There is no earthly peace that compares to the beach for me. Immediately when I arrive, the sounds of the ocean, the birds, the wind melt all anxieties and thoughts away. Last summer I was sitting here, on shell point in an “unforgotten” part of the gulf coastline. Not many others around, no Starbucks or McDonald’s anywhere close. It was beautiful.
As I was sitting there in the quiet with just my husband. I wondered to myself why it is so peaceful and relaxing every time I’m at the beach. I flashed back to when my sister was sick, the random times I would get a break and I would always end up at the beach. She loved the beach, it’s what ultimately brought her to Florida.
and I think I figured it out- surrender.
I can’t control the ocean. I can’t even try. I have to completely trust God- the maker of it all. I have to surrender all my feelings and decision making and just rest.
So today you, like me, may be tucked in on a cold winter day and not at the beach. But we can still choose to find peace and surrender. Let’s trust the only One who knows the beginning and the end. The only One who knows your heart and what He has placed inside you. Do it – today!
One response to “Monday Devotional- Surrender”
I like this post. I never connected the beach with surrender. It does work though. I can see using the memory of the beach to encourage me to surrender to God. Thanks Shannon!
